This isn't an "easy" camera to use, there isn't any "auto-focus" or "snap-shot" modes to rely on. The focus is 100% manual and the user MUST have a full understanding of f/stops, shutter speeds, and ISO. But the image quality and the Leica "glass" (lenses), without a doubt, deliver the BEST optical quality in still-photography. The soft and creamy "bokeh" is optical poetry.

The M9 is also not a "fast" camera for sporting events, nor is it the best camera for "studio" portraits... But is is an amazing "
street photography" and low-profile camera. If you are looking to be disecreet, and you are not wanting to look like a pro photographer, the M9 is the camera to use! (Think mission projects in Rwanda).
I'm saving for a NEW camera... Not to replace my current equipment mind you, but to add to my artistic capabilities... And, it's going to be expensive...

The
Leica M9 Digital rangefinder and a 50mm f/2.0 Summicron lens. This is an entirely different type of camera than I work with today. It is not an SLR, it is a classic Leica "rangefinder" updated for the digital age with an amazing 18MP on a full-frame sensor...
